Marion County Emergency Management

The mission of the Marion County Emergency Management Agency is to save lives, protect property, and minimize the impact of natural and human-caused disasters through coordinated planning, response, and recovery operations within Marion County, Illinois.

We work in partnership with local, state, federal, and private-sector partners to:

• Maintain operational readiness across all hazards — severe weather, flooding, hazardous materials, fire, and infrastructure incidents
• Coordinate emergency response with the Marion County Sheriff, fire protection districts, EMS, hospitals, schools, and utility providers
• Provide situational awareness and decision support to elected officials, first responders, and the public
• Plan and exercise mass-casualty, hazmat, severe-weather, and evacuation scenarios in line with FEMA and IEMA guidance
• Educate residents on disaster preparedness through community outreach, training, and timely public notifications

Our authority and operations are guided by Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) statute, FEMA's National Response Framework, and the Marion County Emergency Operations Plan.
